9/11 and the Iraq War

Mmm... if I remember correctly, I was in my fourth grade class doing something or other with a friend, and we all got really angry when our teacher wouldn't let us go out for recess, because clearly, recess takes top priority over terrorist attack in a 4th grader's mind. Though, to be fair, we didn't know about it yet. I remember vaguely feeling... curious, I guess? Like... why would people fly planes into buildings? Then my mom told me when I got home that my dad was off protecting Penn Station and naturally I freaked out, because, again, I was in the fourth grade. Rationality, I did not have it.

As for the war in Iraq, I honestly don't know why we're still there. It makes no sense to me-- we have nothing really to gain by being there.

Fun Facts

Fun fact? Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to watch a TV for three hours - it's equivalent to half a gallon of gasoline.

Cool.

Three facts I've learned about Haiti:

1. Haiti inaugurated their president in May of 2006.
2. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world.
3. The January earthquake was the worst earthquake in the area in over 200 years.

Hurricane Season

I actually really enjoyed the movie, which doesn't happen often when it comes to in-school movies. The emotions were all there and the actors did a particularly good job at showing them. It was a pleasent surprise to see Khleo Thomas (Zero from Holes) in there, and I guess Lil Wayne was pretty cool too.

But the lazy eye annoyed me.

Natural Disasters

I think that tornadoes are really interesting. I don't know, I watched Twister when I was little and it was pretty cool. All of the effects were really good for that time period, anyway, but I've never actually seen a real tornado.

Ummm, well, there've been a bunch of earthquakes recently, like the two in Haiti and Chile. Those were pretty big, as far as the death toll goes. The one in Haiti was worse, though, and it was back in January, while the one in Chile was a bit more recent... A lot of the families have been trying to recover, with help from the Red Cross and lots of donations from around the world.

We've all been pretty affected by hurricanes in the past. During second grade there was Hurricane Floyd, which was pretty bad, and there was a crazy storm about two weeks ago, although that wasn't really a hurricane, more of a freak storm. But it was actually worse than some of the other hurricane damage. Some people didn't have power for a week.

First Post

...I've blogged before, so uh. This is sort of weird, I guess.

...I like music? Alternative rock mostly.

That's about it.
